Founded in 1988 by two people passionate about the sea, Linda Cain and Daniel Caron, Poissonnerie Caron is now headed by Cain and her sons, Kevin and Alex Caron. Recognised for their attentive service, the fish store’s staff are backed by a solid team that includes about a dozen plant workers and some twenty lobster harvesters.
Holding up to 350,000 lb of live lobster at its vast facilities, Poissonnerie Caron boasts the largest live lobster storage capacity in Québec.
Sustainable fishery partner
At Poissonnerie Caron, we are proud of the sustainable management measures adopted by the Regroupement des pêcheurs du sud de la Gaspésie (of which we are members) to make sure the lobster species continues to thrive.
The measures put in place notably include minimum and maximum capture size rules, the marking of berried females and the installation of escape mechanisms in traps to protect small lobster.
As a result of the efforts made to preserve our valuable resource, the Gaspé Peninsula lobster fishery was certified as sustainable and well managed by the Marine Stewardship Council in 2015!
